BooksCanada is an email forum for the discussion, buying, and selling
of
antiquarian, out of print, and secondhand books in Canada.
Postings of books
wanted, books for sale, discussions on book
collecting, authors, titles, book
care and repair, bibliographic
information, book fair announcements, etc. are
examples of welcome
topics.
Currently there is no fee of any kind required to join, although
small
donations to aid in the maintenance of the list are always
welcome.
There is also a digest version available. This will reduce the amount of
mail
you receive by compiling messages into 1 or 2 longer messages
per day.
To subscribe go to the subscription page:

Once you are subscribed, you can begin to post messages. The address to send
a
message to the list is:

Guidelines for Posting
For Sale Postings:
-
All books listed
For Sale
must be Canadian titles - that means one or more of the following -
published
in Canada - by a Canadian author - about Canada. This
would be very broadly
interpreted. Be creative, if you can find a
Canadian angle in the book, I'll
accept it. A Canadian setting, a
Canadian main character, a Canadian
illustrator, etc. Make sure to
place
FS:
at the beginning of the subject field of your message, followed by
whatever
subject heading you choose. (For example - FS: Travel
books)
-
If you are posting a list of items for sale, and you are not quoting
in
Canadian funds, you should specifically state this. It will be
assumed that any
posting without reference to currency is in
Canadian dollars.
-
Any Canadian member is welcome to post catalogue or list announcements in
any
subject category. Something like -
I have a new list of WWII Military titles available. Please email me for
the
list, or check my web site at....
Or, if you'd like to introduce yourself and your specialties and/or
collecting
interests, please feel free.
-
Non-Canadian members may post FS postings for Canadian materials. They also
may post catalogue or list announcements if there is substantial Canadian
content.
Books Wanted Postings:
-
For a book or books wanted posting, place
WTB:
at the beginning of the subject field of your message, followed by
whatever
subject heading you choose. (For example - WTB: Robertson
Davies titles). There
is no limitation on the content of WTB
postings by Canadians.
-
Non-Canadian members are welcome to post WTB postings for Canadian materials.
Discussions
-
Any other postings of discussion, commentary, or questions can be posted with
a normal subject heading of your choice. Non-Canadian members are
welcome to join all discussions.
